Weekly Recap: Week 2

Welcome to the Evollve weekly newsletter, where every Monday we’ll take a look at some of the most impressive feats of the past week in NCAA volleyball.
Biggest Upset
Our model gave Alabama A&M a 6.2% chance to beat North Alabama on Tuesday, an almost identical win probability as last week’s biggest upset, but the Bulldogs pulled off a 3-1 victory and now sit at 4-1 after winning eight games all of last season.
Biggest Comeback
It doesn’t quite live up to last week’s top comeback (few this season will), but Western Carolina’s win probability dipped below 1% during its match with Bradley before the Catamounts won two thrillers in sets three and four and finished it off with a 15-11 set five win.
Best Clutch Performance
Even in a four-setter, Sam Houston’s Lauren Malone earns this week’s best clutch performance. In their win over Stephen F Austin, Malone broke the 29-29 tie in set three and then took over late in a nail-biting set four, coming up with a kill at 24-24 as well as the final two kills of the match after a 25-25 tie sent the set to extra points.
Evollve Top 25
We’ll wrap things up with our model’s top 25 heading into the new week. Nebraska and Pitt hold serve this week at the top, while Creighton is clinging to a top five spot behind Stanford and Louisville.
