Weekly Recap: Week 4

Welcome to the Evollve weekly newsletter, where every Monday we’ll take a look at some of the most impressive feats of the past week in NCAA volleyball.
Biggest Upset
In the battle for San Diego, UC San Diego took down San Diego in extra points in set five on Saturday despite just a 6.4% chance to win coming into the match. San Diego was done in by their 8 service errors (they only recorded one ace to show for it).
Biggest Comeback
On Tuesday, Lamar took the first two sets and held a 15-5 lead in set three, at which point they had a 99.6% chance to finish off the win. ULM, however, had other plans, responding with their own 15-5 run to knot it at 20 before scoring the final five points of the set. ULM went on to take sets four and five as well for the reverse sweep.
Best Clutch Performance
Ellie Rink led Saint Louis to a hard-fought five-set win over Kansas City on Friday, recording three straight kills in a pivotal set three to turn a 24-23 deficit into a 26-24 win and then keeping her team alive when down 14-13 and 15-14 in set five. In the process, she became just the second DI player this season to record 23+ kills, 17+ digs, and 2+ aces in a match.
Evollve Top 25
We’ll wrap things up with our model’s top 25 heading into the new week. The top two remain the same, although Texas is closing the gap. We also welcome UTEP into the rankings this week.
